Weekly Update for the Lowson Blvd Improvement Project 4/7/23

    • Work continued along the North side of SW 10th St between SW 8th Ave to SW 16th Ave with crews grading and pouring concrete for the new Sidewalks and Curb & Gutters, drainage improvements and adjusting existing fire hydrants.
    • Work also continued along SW 10th St on the North side, between S. Swinton Ave to SW 4th Ave working on installing new drainage structures.
    • Pedestrian Bridge work began with the contractor setting up the crane and pile driving the first of two Test Piles.
    • Crews also milled and paved the 1st lift of asphalt along Lowson Blvd between Congress to the Pedestrian Bridge.

Upcoming Week of April 10th

    • Continue working along SW 10th St between SW 17th Ave to SW 8th Ave with drainage improvements and new concrete sidewalks and curb & gutters and adjusting existing fire hydrants.
    • Continue working along SW 10th St between SW 6th Ave to SW 8th Ave with installing new drainage structures.
    • Pedestrian Bridge on Lowson Blvd between Congress and Homewood Blvd:
      • The 2nd Test Pile installation is tentatively scheduled for next week.
      • Daily Road Closure will take place during Pile Driving Operations for the new Pedestrian Bridges to be installed at the Canal Bridge, which will connect the new Shared Use Paths along both the North and South side of Lowson Blvd.
      • Daily Road Closures will occur between the hours of 7am to 5pm Weekdays.
      • Detour Route will be posted which will direct traffic to the south on both Congress and Homewood Blvd and use Linton Ave.

Motorists can expect minor delays traveling thru the Work Zone Areas.
